We are back and so excited to share with you some of our findings on traveling via Vietnam Airlines, interesting sights & halal and halal-friendly food in Seoul!
Also do note that some previously halal-friendly eateries may have since added questionable meats and I will share these with you too. It is our hope that your trip to Seoul would be enjoyable, less fuss (compared to us hungry beings, looking high and low, speaking in broken Korean) and that you'd be able to try genuine Korean food in Korea!
Should you wish to ask around yourself (such an adventurer!) what we have observed is that you should ask the restaurants Gogi Issoyo? (Meat have?) INSTEAD of Gogi Opsoyo? (Meat don't have?).
The reason for this is when the restaurant has no meat they will seem apologetic and even TRY to show you to another establishment with meat. This assures you that the restaurant is indeed meat free. Should you ask the latter, some "funny" and quick thinking ladies (who have figured out that you cannot eat meat), would assure you that they do not have meat when they might just have some. It is essentially your call. :)
It was a much needed, cool and exhausting trip thanks to the ever so hungry Husband and his lovely sister and cousin. We practiced our little but ever- growing hangeul, climbed never ending stairs and slopes, chatted up cute taxi Ahjusshis, batted our large eyes to discounts and freebies (it was not our intention but hey don't pass it up when offered!), placed our bare feet on cold concrete to feel the icy cold, kept a lookout for our favourite crispy hotteoks and observed our surroundings with wide open twinkling (I'd like to think so) eyes.
Look out for new additions to the shop/site too as I brought in a limited number of cute cookie cutters, treats packaging and even random quirky accessories! In the upcoming weeks Kayos kookies hopes to include quirky baked treats as well in the shop which would be wonderful as gifts and party favors.
Till the next entry, Annyeonghi Ga saeyo!
